Wales Culture International

Just heard from my German friend Britta who will come to Wales again next year to work on her fourth edition of her Wales travel guide. I think that one is the best one available.

One of Wales' main characteristics is the weather. 2009 has been another rainy summer. It is raining right now and I cannot do what I wanted to do.
I miss the cycle paths here, long summer nights outside. Hill and mountain walks are very enjoyable if one likes that kind of thing.

In the small towns, life can be very quiet after half past four in the afternoon.

Been watching quite a lot of the Eisteddfod in Bala on TV this year, on S4C.

I have also been following it on the web (BBC website).

It's been very good. Da iawn.

On S4C, it would be great if the presenters would go more around the "maes", I think - to tell people about the stalls and the atmosphere of the Eisteddfod. I have missed that. The rest - well done, S4C!

People in Wales need to work MORE together, not against each other in what the culture and promoting the Welsh culture is concerned! Through much university research in Göttingen and Cardiff, and own personal studies (highly motivated!) I examined the Welsh culture extensively over the past twenty years. I have learnt the language without all these courses you can get with a book "Teach yourself Welsh". Lived in Cardiff, Aberystwyth and in Machynlleth. Been to an Eisteddfod Genedlaethol for the whole week nine times, set up international art exhibitions, belonged to the Cardiff German society, twice I edited Yr Angor in Aberystwyth, did 13 episodes for a Welsh cultural podcast in German, worked in Sain Ffagan for a long while and wrote her MA thesis about this open-air museum. Completed hundreds of descriptions for the Archives Network Wales.

Wales has a rich culture. Europeans and people from all over the world are very much interested. I have been promoting Wales in numerous Blogs and using all the online-ressources available.

Wales 2.0 has been a great challenge!
